Use what you have, make one from scratch or buy one you love!
Below are a few samples of the journals I have bound so far on my own 🙂 .
Many people have made art journals from book covers from our childhood and sell them online, if you prefer to go that route. An Artist well known for it is Tangie Baxter, and you can purchase one here from her and her handy husband: Art Journaling The Magic Journals (CLICK ME).
Supply list (what I can think of right now 😉 ) :
If you would like to prepare your pages (cut them to size), make sure that when they are folded in half, that they are a little bit smaller in width than the cover you plan on using. FOR EXAMPLE: If you will be using a GOLDEN BOOK for your cover, my pages measure (un-folded) 11″ wide by 7″ high. When they are folded in half, they measure 5 1/2″ wide x 7″ high. If I were to use a GOLDEN BOOK cover as my cover, I may choose to use 3 pieces of 11″x7″ for each signature in the book. In total I may choose to have 4 signatures (3 pieces of art paper in each one) in my booklet, plus any other scrapbook pages, etc that I choose to add in.
If you are using a different size of cover, you will need to make your page sizes different as well (to align with your cover).
If this is confusing, don’t worry. We will go over it at 2pm PST on Monday.
Just make sure that you have some sheets of paper to paint on, on Monday. If you have 12″ x 9″ sheets of paper to work on for then, you will be in great shape. TIP: You can keep some at a longer length for a few tip-in pages.
Please share this post with anyone that you know that may like to join in on the fun.

It’s funny what our brains can do to us or for us, isn’t it?
Here I am, safe at home, with some of my family right here with me. I have food, I have a cozy bed, safe walls round me, art supplies to play with and a world to virtually connect with. We are not at war. I am safe at home.
In truth, I am one very lucky lady, aren’t I? Don’t get me wrong, I know this. I do.
But lately I am getting more moments. Moments that make you wonder if it is worth it…all this work I am doing here in my tiny art studio. Creating highly discounted family friendly content (e-courses & art live streams) to help break up the monotony for others as they hang out in their homes.
Is anyone really enjoying what I am doing?
Am I helping?
I looked at myself in the computer monitor, took a deep breath and clicked on the GO LIVE button.
The first sketch was a struggle. I was still self-doubting myself.
Then a funny thing happened.
People started to comment in the chat about how they liked my funky character sketch even though I did not.
My mood began to change. I was starting to feel better.
Someone was there with me & in their own way they told me that it was okay and to keep going forward.
We truly are all in this together.
It turns out that I was helping these people take their minds on a visual journey for a moment out of the day and also make them feel less alone.
We are all worth these moments in time. We all must put one foot in front of the other and just go for it. Who knows where one little decision will take you.
Just keep on keeping on.
Step – Leap – Jump!
I’m right here with you
Are you bored? Are you tired of talking to yourself in the mirror for company? Is your pet now avoiding you and your bizarre behaviours?

Make this an adventure! Treat this time as a gift!

We are entering a new world, a smaller world. A world where community is truly bigger than we ever viewed it as being before.
We need to support one another. Help where we can with the knowledge and skills we have.
Today, I am announcing how I will be doing that with all of you. Please take a few moments and watch my video below. Know that I plan to do more, but this, at least, seems to be a good start.
Join me. From my safe space to yours, we are in this together and together, with all of our combined skills, I believe we can make a better, more loving future for us all.
Take care, support your community however you can and let’s make good in our lives.
Love to you all
I know that this is a trying time for many, as our world works together to take all the possible precautionary measures it can to stop the spread on COVID-19.
I have decided to do what I can to help out. Therefore I am offering my online courses at a discount of 40% for the next month beginning tonight at midnight.
I am not looking for the sales. I am looking to bring my creative de-stressing techniques to you at a lesser cost (found in the ARTful Planner e-course).
This will hopefully give you some activities you can do at home with your friends and family, as well as addressing the subjects of inner strength, taking time for yourself, creating new habits, honouring those close to you and embracing the act of artful play.
Many of us are staying home more than we normally do. We are not out there socializing. Actually we are being introduced to how some people already feel and act everyday. Let’s join together, from our own homes, and create, plan & grow.
I normally teach art camps during school Spring Break here in Canada. The classes are still going to run at this point in time. If they do end up being cancelled by the city, I will hopefully be able to create some more online art workshops for you to participate in. If that ends up happening for the week of March 23rd, I will offer that online content at the reduced rate as well until April 13th, 2020.
I hope, as I imagine many of you do, that we will get a handle on this virus very soon and then get back to our regular schedules. If it takes longer, then we will look at extending our discount date range. However, I hope that we will not need to.
From my household to yours, we wish you all the very best of health, happiness, patience and cleanliness.
Much love and creativity
