A White Christmas After All!

Hi Everyone,

Okay so I have missed three work shifts as of late due to snow. It has been absolutely wonderful to be able to hang out with my family and go sledding down the hill, which I have been unable to drive up, …..but I feel horrible having to leave my co-workers to fend for themselves with all the last minute Christmas Shoppers rush!

Please forgive me ladies, I have tried my best and if I still lived uptown I would be there by way of foot.

We finally had a day of freedom yesterday & I did actually make it in to work, but only to find out that someone had taken my shift for me, but forgot to tell me (lol).

There is something about working in a chocolate shop on Christmas Eve day that is absolutely wonderful! All the ladies are sharing jokes, calling customers down to their till from the one massive line that goes out of the store and into the mall, having a race with ‘N’ to see who can get the highest total before the other one, sharing some holiday treats and Christmas cards in the small back room & then giving hugs and wishing each other a very merry Christmas as you head home at the end of the day.

So, we may be finally having a White Christmas, which none of us have seen in a very long time (maybe 20 years), but I feel like I am missing out on something which has become a tradition for me (FYI: I only work during the Holiday Seasons).

Fun in the SNOW!

The icicle still grows!

The icicle still grows!

Duran has been absolutely loving it! … and so he should! Wow, to be 5, on Christmas Eve and have the snow back to 15 cm high with at least another 15-20 cm expected!

We have been recording (with photos) the growth of an icicle by our front door.

We were planning on knocking it down today, but since it is in our garden where no one is walking in this weather, we may just let it grow and see how far it goes.

Anyways, I have been asked to go play in the snow, so I had better get out there and not miss out on anything!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

Keep smiling and creating!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Well the snow is piling up, the salt is not working very well anymore & they have told us to expect at least another 15cm.

Tonight is the night of my husbands work party. We have not had a work party to go to in over 5 years and were soooo looking forward to tonight. Oh well, better to be safe and warm. Now I just need to get my hubby back here.

It looks like we may have a white Christmas after all!

They are calling for a chilly dry week and then more snow on Sunday.

Duran and I decided to head out yesterday to get our holiday haircuts. I took him to the absolute coolest salon ever!

The Chop Shop in Langley, BC.

Duran got a cute little haircut that they spiked up in the middle to look like a mohawk. He would’t let us wash his hair last night as he wanted to be able to show everyone today.

Pierce did my hair. I love it!

He used my colours to their best advantage and gave me a funky Mod style haircut. You rock Pierce!

I love the way the dark hair comes forward and chunks into the ruby wine!

His hawk has fallen down a bit

I had to come straight home and redo my make-up to match the hair style.

Duran and I have definitely found our new Salon and Stylists.

Have a great day,

Holiday Cookie/Bake Exchange

I have to bake some cookies for a Kindergarten Mom’s bake exchange this week. I have been totally stumped on what to make, as some recipes sounded really good, but nothing screamed ‘Yes, you are making me!‘, ….. until about ten minutes ago!

Lollipop Cookies!

Lollipop Cookies!

I put on the food network channel (I love that channel!) and a Paula Deen‘s show was on about Winter Cookie Exchanges and I saw the most awesome treat ever. It is the case of already knowing about something, but never coming up with the obvious way to display it.
I am sure that most of you out there have heard of a pinwheel cookie.
Well, they had made peppermint pinwheel cookies and stuck a lollipop stick in one side. Once the cookie was baked they placed the cookie part inside of a cellophane bag and tied a ribbon around the base of the cookie, leaving the stick poking outside of the wrapper.
Wah-la! A peppermint lollipop cookie!!!!

I am going to head out and buy all the ingredients today! … Although I probably won’t get a chance to make them until Tuesday (watch for photos).

I have made a recipe card from a recipe I found on the internet in case you want to print off a copy for yourself. (FYI: ‘t’ = teaspoon)

Have a Happy Sunday Everyone!

Violette's Organizational Calendar

As many of you out there in cyberland know, I have a wonderful Artist friend in which I share the same birthday.  She is currently organizing her home and her life.

When I visited her blog the other day I was excited and a little shocked to see that my planned ‘tea’ visit had been scheduled. She had a photo on her post of her new calendar in which I had been slotted in on Wednesday for tea from 10am until 11:15 am.

I began to wonder, will she kick me out the front door at 11:15:59 seconds???

I knew that she wouldn’t, It just seemed rather odd to see myself slotted in to have a visit (lol). Upon seeing her calendar in person, I fell in love with it! What a great way to keep our wandering selves inline with when to create, when to promote ourselves… oh, yes, and when to live. Plus you get to decorate each weekly page.

Violette’s Creativity Uncluttered Calendar has 52 pages in it. One for each week of the year! All that is written on each page is the day of the week. That way when you decorate your weekly page you can add in the month and number the corresponding days. She is sooooo smart!

The second stop after having tea with Violette, I walked into our neighborhood Staples with her long funky template in hand and ordered a copy to be made up for myself (actually I ordered two… tee hee). I cannot wait!

As for my

Art & Fine Craft Markets

this Holiday Season…

Groovy Glass Girl

The first show, CREATIVE FINDS, was wonderful. We had a great stream of traffic all day and the vendors and their products were just lovely! Next year will be the third annual and I plan to make it a two day event!

As for the second show, HOLIDAY SHOPPING AT SUNNYSIDE, we unfortunately did not take into consideration that all the local shopping ladies might just be heading across the Canada / USA border (which is only 5 minutes away) to take part in the U.S. Thanksgiving SALES. UGH!

Messy Kid Products

It is definitely a different experience to run a craft market at a school along with the schools Parent Advisory Committee (P.A.C.) compared to running a show at a rented hall with only myself to make all the decisions. I should have learned after organizing my 20 year high school reunion this year with a team of 5 other people. It is very stressful. I definitely like it a whole lot better being able to decide on my own what to spend on advertising, how to make the best use of my very wonderful volunteers and so forth.

All in all I have learned a lot and look forward to making the changes to improve what I can do to make Creative Finds one of he best shows around for both vendor/volunteer and customer alike.

I have posted a few photos from the Creative Finds show for you to take a peak at.

OH!!!! You are now able to post comments on my blog. YEAH!!!
